Saint Gilgen Rowing Tour
July 6 – 12, 2020
Join us for a week or rowing, relaxation and adventure in beautiful St Gilgen, Austria! This quaint town is located in the Salzkammergut region, not far from Salzburg, and is complete with charming restaurants, shops, and guesthouses. The surrounding landscape is quintessential Austria – alpine mountains and a stunning turquoise lake named Wolfgangsee.
Our hotel is situated in the center of St Gilgen, about 5-10min walk to the boathouse. It is a very special hotel, and it has been around for a while (foundations date to 1330).
You may feel transported to another time even standing outside of it. Parts of the facade are over 700 years old and bear witness to the fascinating craftsmanship of the Middle Ages.
The local rowing club is wonderful, featuring all types of boats: sculling and sweep, racing and training boats, and even an Octuple (a sculling boat for 8 people).
Rowing sessions will take place every morning with exception of our Arrival Day – July 6.
Optional afternoon practices are available as well. Coaching will be provided by Iva Boteva, iROW Tours Founder and Los Angeles based private rowing coach in addition to Grisha Manchev, a former Bulgarian National Team rower who has been a part of many iROW Tours, and finally Pete Spivey who is the coach at the club we are partnering with at St Gilgen.
With this much coaching talent you can rest assured all your rowing needs will be well taken care of!
Some afternoons we will have a planned sightseeing activity, and others will be unscheduled, giving you a chance to relax or explore the place on your own.
Our sightseeing program includes a guided tour of Salzburg, which offers a rich mix of art and architecture, with its historic center being a part of UNESCO’s World Heritage. We will also take a cable car and go up high to The Zwölferhorn Mountain in St. Gilgen, offering breathtaking views of the area. There are plenty of walks up on the summit and various huts encourage you to pop in and they offer special local delicacies.
This once in a life time experience is priced at $4,495 ($4,050 for iROW clients/previous tour participants). The trip is priced to include everything while in Saint Gilgen. All you need is to purchase your plane ticket and travel insurance.
